Alexander Thompson Arnold PLLC (ATA) has been named a 2020 Firm to Watch and a Top Regional Leader by Accounting Today. The roster includes firms with positive growth rates, which landed ATA on the top firms list for the southeast. The report also evaluates a firm in all aspects and not just growth numbers, looking at cutting edge business practices, which differentiated ATA and put the company on the firms to watch list.

Alexander Thompson Arnold PLLC Announces Furry Hire

Alexander Thompson Arnold PLLC (ATA) is pleased to announce its newest addition Cali, who joined the ATA team as a service dog in training for Leader Dogs for the Blind. In this pre-training time, Cali is responsible for learning basic commands, avoiding distractions, and learning to patiently wait when not needed to assist her human. Her puppy raiser, Member/Partner, Catherine Messerly and her family have already opened their home to other future Leader Dogs in the past. Previously, Ebony, a guide dog in Mexico and last year Dakota, who switched careers and is now aiding in detecting bombs and other threats.

Prior to joining ATA, Cali was being prepared by her host family and leader dog mom. Leader Dog for the blind seeks to provide only the best puppies and ensures the health of their dogs by selective breeding. The breeding parents live in homes with families until they are retired at which time they are spayed/neutered, and their host family is then able to adopt them permanently. Cathy’s second puppy, Bailey, was selected for the program and just delivered her fourth and final litter in August.

“I am so glad Cali can join us here at ATA.”, said Memphis Partner, Cathy Messerly. “Our office environment is a great place for her to grow and learn the many skills she needs to succeed. It is great to be a part of an organization that cares so much about community and helping others.”

Cali will graduate from working with Cathy and the Memphis office in July 2020, and then will begin her advance training. This training will continue until she is ready to aid a visually impaired person. Leader Dogs for the Blind, the organization Cali belongs to, offers services free of charge to their clients, so having volunteers to raise puppies is crucial to keeping costs down.

Alexander Thompson Arnold PLLC Announces New Hire

Alexander Thompson Arnold PLLC (ATA) is adding to the team with their recent hire of Kristin Thymius, who joined the firm as a newly graduated associate. In this role, Thymius is responsible for drafting financial statements, performing audit procedures on engagements, preparing audit workpapers, and assisting the seniors and managers in finalizing the audit report. When asked why she was excited to join ATA full time, Thymius said,” I’m excited to be working full-time because I love the people I work with, the work we do, and our clients. “

“We are delighted to have Kristin choose ATA Memphis to kick off her career in public accounting.  She brings fresh perspective, excitement, and energy to the office and our team.  We look forward to working with her as she grows professionally while serving our clients and the community well.”, said Cathy Sanborn, a partner in the Memphis, TN office.

Prior to being hired as a full-time associate, Thymius was an audit intern, going to school full time at the University of Memphis. While an intern, she graduated with her Bachelor’s in Accounting and began graduate school to achieve her master’s in accounting. Thymius plans to graduate with her masters in December 2019. Thymius is a Becker Professional Education Corporation Graduate Campus Ambassador at the University of Memphis for this upcoming academic year.

Alexander Thompson Arnold PLLC Announces New Female Partner

 

Alexander Thompson Arnold PLLC (ATA) is excited to announce that Marcie Williams has been promoted to partner. Marcie is a certified public accountant and has been with the firm for the past 12 years in the Jackson office.  She is an assurance partner specializing in internal school funds, school districts, single audits, contractors and other for-profit engagements.

“This is a goal I have been working toward for some time,” said Williams. “I have always enjoyed the people I work with and the niches I have developed throughout my career. Becoming a partner in these areas of practice and continuing relationships with my coworkers and clients is not only a privilege but an honor. I look forward to pursuing this role at ATA and furthering my career doing what I enjoy.”

While employed at ATA, Williams has gained extensive experience in several divisions of ATA, including technical review, which has made her a valuable resource for the firm. Additionally, she leads regular internal training sessions and offers guidance to staff and newly acquired firms to maintain our high standards of quality control.

“Marcie has shown exceptional leadership over the past 12 years,” said managing partner, John Whybrew. “She takes initiative and is always a team player. ATA is proud to name her partner and looks forward to the continued value that she’ll bring to the firm.”

Marcie graduated from Arkansas State University in December 2006 with an undergraduate degree in accounting. She has been married to her husband Michael for the past twelve years and together they have two active boys, nine-year-old Easton and seven-year-old Landon. Marcie is a Jackson native, attends Englewood Baptist Church, and is a graduate of Leadership Jackson. Currently, Marcie serves as President of the TSCPA West Tennessee Chapter. She is also on the Jackson State Community College Foundation Board of Trustees and the Leadership University Board.

Creative agency, Sodium Halogen, has merged with CPA firm, Alexander Thompson Arnold

Sodium Halogen has merged with ATA to become the firm’s digital consulting arm. This new relationship will provide ATA’s clients with additional resources including marketing consulting, app development, and other creative services to further enhance their businesses. The combination of ATA and Sodium Halogen creates a full-stack consulting service to amplify businesses.

“Think of it as left brain meets right brain,” said Stephen Eldridge, ATA partner. “ATA’s analytical thinking is joining with Sodium Halogen’s creative mindset, which means a more diverse business strategy.”

Legins is an accomplished financial and tax accountant with more than 28 years of experience serving a variety of business, individual, and agricultural clients. Legins worked with the firm for five years from 2007 to 2012, where he reached the level of Partner. Legins has been working the past six years as the CFO/EVP for Savant Learning Systems, Inc.

ATA is pleased to announce its recent accolade as a 2018 IPA Top 200 Firm deemed by INSIDE Public Accounting’s (IPA) 28^th Annual Survey and Analysis of Firms.

IPA 100, 200 and 300 firms are ranked by U.S. net revenues and are compiled by analyzing the more than 550 responses received this year for IPA’s Survey and Analysis of Firms. This is IPA’s 28th annual ranking of the largest accounting firms in the nation.
